Class: AlertDialogDriver<ContentT>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:92

Driver for a Radix AlertDialog (AlertDialog.Root/AlertDialog.Content from radix-ui).

Portal re-root: identical shape to DialogDriver — overlay and content are EACH direct document.body children — except the content renders role="alertdialog", so the static hooks re-root at that role. Because the role differs from both modal Dialog (dialog) and Popover (dialog), the static re-root has no collision problem and the trigger-anchored aria-controls pattern PopoverDriver needs is unnecessary here.

AlertDialog.Cancel/AlertDialog.Action have NO distinguishing DOM attribute (both render plain <button>s with no role/data-* marker, and their order is consumer-defined — verified against rendered radix-ui@1.6.1 DOM), so the driver cannot expose portable clickCancel/clickAction; declare them as content parts anchored by forwarded data-testids. (Astryx's positional first/last-button match does not transfer: Radix imposes no button order or count.)

Note Radix AlertDialog blocks outside-pointer dismissal by design, but Escape still dismisses through DismissableLayer — closeByEscape is the portable programmatic dismissal, same as DialogDriver.

Extends

  • ContainerDriver<ContentT, typeof alertDialogParts>

Type Parameters

ContentT

ContentT extends ScenePart = { }

Constructors

Constructor

new AlertDialogDriver<ContentT>(locator, interactor, option?): AlertDialogDriver<ContentT>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:93

Parameters

locator

PartLocator

interactor

Interactor

option?

Partial<IContainerDriverOption<ContentT, { description: { driver: typeof HTMLElementDriver; locator: CssLocator; }; title: { driver: typeof HTMLElementDriver; locator: CssLocator; }; }>>

Returns

AlertDialogDriver<ContentT>

Overrides

ContainerDriver<ContentT, typeof alertDialogParts>.constructor

Accessors

driverName

Get Signature

get driverName(): string

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:117

Returns

string

Overrides

ContainerDriver.driverName

Methods

closeByEscape()

closeByEscape(timeoutMs?): Promise<boolean>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:107

Dismiss the dialog by pressing Escape, then wait for it to close. Radix intentionally disables AlertDialog's outside-pointer dismissal, but Escape still flows through DismissableLayer (verified against rendered DOM: the dialog unmounts). The returned boolean reflects the observed close, not merely the key press.

Parameters

timeoutMs?

number

Returns

Promise<boolean>

getDescription()

getDescription(): Promise<string | null>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:99

The dialog's description text, or null when AlertDialog.Description is absent.

Returns

Promise<string | null>

getTitle()

getTitle(): Promise<string | null>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:97

The dialog's title text, or null when AlertDialog.Title is absent.

Returns

Promise<string | null>

isOpen()

isOpen(): Promise<boolean>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:116

Whether the dialog is open. Radix mounts AlertDialog.Content only while open (forceMount off by default), so existence is the open signal.

Returns

Promise<boolean>

waitForClose()

waitForClose(timeoutMs?): Promise<boolean>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:111

Wait for the dialog to close (its content to unmount).

Parameters

timeoutMs?

number

Returns

Promise<boolean>

waitForOpen()

waitForOpen(timeoutMs?): Promise<boolean>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:109

Wait for the dialog to open (its content to mount).

Parameters

timeoutMs?

number

Returns

Promise<boolean>

overriddenParentLocator()

static overriddenParentLocator(): Optional<PartLocator>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:94

Portal hook: where to re-root this driver's locator when its component renders outside the parent's DOM (a modal, popup, drawer). Return the PartLocator that locates the component from the document root, or undefined (the default) for normal in-tree components whose locator chains from the parent.

This is static because it is per-class metadata read off the constructor before any instance exists — which makes the "no instance state" constraint structural rather than a documented caution. Override with static override.

Returns

Optional<PartLocator>

Overrides

ContainerDriver.overriddenParentLocator

overrideLocatorRelativePosition()

static overrideLocatorRelativePosition(): Optional<LocatorRelativePosition>

Defined in: packages/component-driver-radix-v1/dist/index.d.mts:95

Portal hook: the locator relative position to apply when the component's real DOM is a sibling/elsewhere rather than a descendant (e.g. a MUI dialog rendered at the document root, located by a "Same"-level selector). Return undefined (the default) to keep the natural position declared by the ScenePart.

Static for the same reason as ComponentDriver.overriddenParentLocator: it is class-level metadata read before construction. Override with static override.

Returns

Optional<LocatorRelativePosition>

Overrides

ContainerDriver.overrideLocatorRelativePosition

Properties

commutableOption

readonly commutableOption: CommutableComponentDriverOption

Defined in: packages/core/dist/index.d.mts:1182

The component-agnostic slice of the constructor option that is safe to share across the whole driver tree — everything the constructor received EXCEPT the component-specific parts, which each driver owns for itself. drag()

protected drag(delta): Promise<void>

Defined in: packages/core/dist/index.d.mts:1320

Drag this component by the given pixel delta from its center. See Interactor.drag.

Prefer a keyboard-driven setValue over a true drag in real drivers — these drag primitives exist only for cases keyboard cannot express (e.g. panning a Lightbox, reordering a column). jsdom has no layout engine, so the positional outcome of the drag is E2E-only there.

Parameters
